| | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 61 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 61 | Ive got a 51 Chevy 3100 and when i put my weight on the frame (160 lbs) there is quite a pronounced creaking sound. I think its in the leaf springs and/or the shackles.
I can live with the sound, but id rather it not be there. Is there anything i can grease, oil, lube, tighten or loosen to lessen this sound?

Also, the cab is supported by rubber grommets and that could be giving you squeak. RuGlyde is a good rubber lubricant for the rubber bushings. Also the leaf springs could be creating some noise. If you're ambitious, Delrin spring liners can be installed or using Damping Grease between the leaves can help with that.

Also, where the rubber grommets supporting the cab?
Great idea on the leaf springs.
