I just opened a big box of stuff I bought from Jim Carter's last August and I don't know how to install anything. I've got a little bag of (6 or 8) hood rubber bumpers but no idea where they go? I don't see existing holes that look right; there ARE 3 or 4 round depressions on the cowl line - some have holes, some do not. The holes it does have are too small for the rubber protrusions to go into, I don't want to drill them larger til I consult you guys.
Also - the rubber for the hood to cowl junction; its basically a long rectangular rubber extrusion with a line or raise ride down the middle. I think that the raised ridge line goes IN the cowl line, does that sound right? Seems logical, but it also seems the square metal hold downs w/ counter sunk hole would hit the hood paint(?) If I screw them in hard enough will the rubber bulge and keep this from happening? So if I do this, the rubber snubbers interrupt the continuous line of rubber?
After these questions, I've got a whole other group about installing window felt, a tacky 1" or 1-1/2" "tape" that I think may be for setting window glass in the metal window frame that goes up & down?
Any and all pictures and explanations will be VERY appreciated. | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | The hood rubbers bumpers go into holes that are on the hood they do on my 52-3100 there are two bigger ones and they go on the front near the latch on top of the grill and are pointed up to stop the hood from hitting the apron on top of the grill
long rubber goes like you think and fits only one way into the grove on the cowl and the spaces were you screw the plates down are recessed so after you screw them in they will not hit the hood ,make sure you pull the rubber tight when you install it so after your done there is no gap under the rubber it does not look to good I started on one side and did each one in turn pulling the rubber screwing the bracket then off to the next ,ETC,ETC
Pete
PS if you need pics send me your e-mail and I'll send them to you
