My front ones are especially rusty and need some kind of protection from the elements and to slow down their deterioration. I'm assuming that it should be a high temp primer and top coat rated for at least 500 degrees. Right? Or does it need a higher temp rating?

Spray bomb rustoleum or engine enamel should be adequate. | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 102 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 102 | Can't say from experience but I would think POR-15 would be up to the job. | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 31 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 31 | I've always had good results with either Rustoleum/Tremclad. I always throw them into the BBQ after 24 hrs of drying & then touch up any peeled spots. Be careful of the smoke & don't cook dinner in the BBQ the same nite. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | ... a good black enamel will do well. I used some high temp engine paint I happened to have on the shelf and its held up well. EDIT: David, it was good to see you the other day. Wish we could have had more time.... so we could have ate more hot dogs and Pepsi
