I would imagine he'd like to drive over to the platter with his chrome rather than paying freight but I'm guessing that's not going to happen in your area.
I can't tell you where but when you check with any platter ask what type of chrome process will be done.
Cheap chrome is not worth didly squat, and while the price may sound attractive, you regret it down the road.

A triple plate chrome process, copper, nickel, chrome, will give you quality chrome done by a good experienced platter and that's what I'd want to spend my money on so that down the road I'm still happy and the chrome still looks good.
Unless someone has a suggestion, you might check the internet as it seems all answers are found there. Well, most all.

Dan Thanks for your insights..I am in the process of checking the internet, but was hoping to get a referral from someone..these are tough decisions when you are working with older materials that need that special touch
Thanks again

I've spent a lot of money on chrome for my firetruck. The best by far is:
Royal Silver Manufacturing Company, Inc.

3300 CHESAPEAKE BOULEVARD, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA

PHONE 757-855-6004

FAX 757-855-0017

I have no connection to this company or its owners or workers. I would trust them with any part! The finish is better than new. Look at my firetruck pictures as evidence of thier quality work. It is unbelievable!! Firetruck chrome Good luck with the project!

Wow, that's one fine looking firetruck. Whew, all that chrome !
You didn't say what chrome process they applied to your chrome.
Was it a triple plate process ?
You were lucky to find a plating outfit close enough to just drive to or that freight would have cost a bunch.

Yes I was lucky. Before I found Royal Silver, I was driving all my chrome parts to Richmond to get them plated. It was a pain.. Plus there is no compairison as the Royal Silver quality is much better than the Richmond version.

As for my parts: Before plating, all needed repairs such as dents, rust and flaking should be removed on the very rusted and pited parts. The process begins with the parts being stripped down to the bare metal and glass beaded. It is then treated with copper to repair the holes. It then gets buffed to a mirror finish and triple plated with chrome.

Some of the parts were so bad that I thought they would have to be replaced but Royal Silver was up to the repair job.

Craig,
I had to go looking for their business card. It's been some years back but their plating was great and they are closer to you.
I'd at least check with them and see if they still put out the quality chrome they used to.
I only say that cause sometimes what was doesn't always remain the same, but they were quality when I used them.
Bison Plating inc
600 Sherman Av
Adell, Wi

I pulled them up on the web and they are still there, which says a lot for their business. Usually if someone doesn't provide a good product they don't last long.
Not a short drive, they're east of Fon du lac,or the freight might be less.
