Hey, I have found a cheap 350 for my 65 chev c20. it currently has a 250 I6.

The engine i have found is a 1989 350 with tbi.
my questions are:
can it be converted to use a carb and not tbi?
will this engine work in my truck? Like will the clutch linkage work with the block, clutch flywheel etc.
anything i've missed?


I would search but i need to let this guy know if i want the engine tonight and i have to go to work.

The TBI intake can be swapped out for a carburetor intake. The 4 center bolt holes are drilled at a different angle on the TBI intake, you can either ream out the holes on the carburetor intake or I think they may also make an aftermarket intake to fit. The older V8's had 2 holes for the clutch linkage ball, one right over the oil filter and another a few inches forward. These trucks used the forward hole. Most newer engines do not have the forward hole, some do not even have the boss for it. I have heard of people drilling the hole on newer blocks, but I have never tried it myself. Maybe someone else can tell you more. Your flywheel will not fit the '89 engine, '86 up used the one piece rear seal and has a smaller pattern. Hope that helps.
