Guys, need a little help here. I just installed a new turn signal kit , and wanted to know if this area is correct. Every time I move the lever, the same area moves up, the spring rides up and off the cam and the switch lever comes out of the socket. It seems like the cam needs to be flipped, but the hole in the cam is tapered, matching with the post it sits on. Maybe the cam is supposed to be press fitted, that's why the taper? Dunno. I want to flip the cam over, but I'm afraid I might mess up the cam. Any thoughts?

Looks like the cancelling pawls are installed wrong. I resent you the diagram. Ken

The open end of the pawls should point in to the center of the column , according to the diagram. Hope that helps.

Ken, I found the diagram you sent me back in May 09. Where did you find this diagram. I have the factory assembly manual and the shop manual, but couldn't find this diagram. I should have used that instead of a site I found that had pics of a gmc truck's turn signal. I'll try the diagram instead. Thanks!

No go. I still get the ride-up problem at the detent roller. Also, when I got the kit, the hold down bolt wouldn't fit thru the actuating ring. Should the bolt, be press-fit into the ring? I drilled into the ring to allow the bolt to go thru. Did I screw it up?

That I wouldn't know. The veiw I sent is from my 1960 shop manuel chassis electric 9-72.To me looking at pic#7 in comparison to fig.142maybe the detent spring goes behind the detent roller not the spring in front of roller?Just a guess, Mine hasn't been apart for 3 yrs and I need a wheel puller to get into it.
