Maybe someone else can tell you for sure. Alot of people just change out the whole front end with one from a '71-'87 1/2ton. Not necessarily the easiest way but it seems to be the most popular. You have to remove the old crossmember and the torsion bars, then bolt the new one in. I am told that most of the holes line up but a few need to be drilled. The frames are supposed to be about the same width in this area. Of course then you end up with 5 bolt rotors, which is what alot of people want anyway. But for those that want to keep their 6 hole wheels there are vendors now selling 6 bolt rotors to fit these spindles. You also end up with much cheaper ball joints, tie rod ends and rubber control arm bushings. While you're there, you can also get the power steering box off one of these same trucks. There are vendors that sell the bracket to bolt them to the early frames. Best of luck.

Came with everything including Power Brake Booster & porportioning valve for about $1,200. Haven't put it on yet, but just bolts up to stock suspension - no changes needed. I have asked a few questions so far on a couple of different forums, and it seems the 73-87 1/2 ton chevy is a good candidate for a crossmember swap. A little wider (not sure yet how much), 5 lug instead of 6, and drill a couple of holes to bolt through. Doesn't sound too bad...?
I just lucked into a '79, 1/2 ton parts truck. I'm taking the front crossmember with brakes and suspension, power booster, master cylinder, prop. valve, steering box and pump, and the guy is giving me the rear end. It will be a while until I get the '64 into the garage, as well as the parts from the '79. But, I will take pictures of the process and post here when I get started.
