Hi all,

I'm about to replace the surround gasket in my 40 1/2 ton based on a Tech Talk posting... and my first question is how to remove the windshield in its frame. Looks like taking out the interior sheet metal and headliner are required. Any advice if this is the best way?

Thanks,

Doug

you dont have to take no sheetmetal off. crank the window all the way out. lay a pillow are couch cushion on the hood and slide it under the lower frame to help support it (for when your ready to remove it). disconnect the cotter pin, you can push the window out further when the pin is out. then look up and you will see the hidden hinges. remove the screws that screw into the upper window frame and carefully remove the whole thing. i did it by myself but if you have a helper it will be easier. hopefully the screws come out easy mine did. i would suggest like others before me to get the rubber from steele. i didnt because i didnt know of them while i was doing it.
