I am going to replace the wiring harness on my Chevrolet 53 1/2 ton P.U. With all the vendors out there selling the complete kit, I am looking for opinions of quality, and ease of installation of a harness kit. I am not going with any big modifications except for 12 volt, heater, cigar lighter, and radio. My truck has non of these presently. Any recommedations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Mo2cyl, I just completly wired a '53 and a '37 with the 12 circuit Painless wiring harness with no problems. However, if you make a little contribution to The Stovebolt Page , Rebel Wire will give a 15% discount to stovebolt supporters. This is a win-win for all.

Alternator/generator?

Foot starter or solenoid starter?

Terminated plastic-coated wire sets are available from Classic Parts ($150) and Jim Carter ($210). They have no extra circuits/wires, except for turn-signals (dual-filament lamps and dual rear lamps), maybe.

Original-style sets would not have a circuit/line for heater, radio, and lighter (use your own wire and in-line fuses).

Kevin,

I have used the Classic Parts (53-54 alternator) harness with an alternator and solenoid starter on a 54 truck. It was an excellent fit (however, my truck had only the additional accessories that you mention, plus the GM optional 1954 turn signal option). The quality, price, and ease of installation could not be beat.
