Can anyone tell me the year and answer the question about the bearings? Thanks Dennis

However, I'm still confused. I had visited the first site you listed, and still can see how to decipher my engine year.
My number 24829283 c does not seem to be listed here: "Here is some information on identifying the year of your 248 engine."
What am I missing?
Thanks Dennis

You need block and head casting numbers and block and head casting dates to best identify your engine (the casting numbers are shown in the first link). Here is a photo of casting codes locations by Rob English, from the oldGMCtrucks.com site - (manifolds' side of the engine). Tim | | |
