I do not have trouble in starting but when I drive any distance, cut the engine off and try to restart it is very difficult to restart. Sometimes I have to use the carb. starting fluid to get it to go. I have replaced the alternator, regulator, starter, battery, plugs, plug wires, carburator, fuel pump, thermostat, added a heaver battery cable, new points and rotor, added fenton headers and have flowmaster dual exhaust. It seems like everything is there. I'm baffled.

This is a fuel problem, not a spark or temperature problem, from your description. With all the threads on clogs from old tanks, I would look into the fuel supply part of the system. Start at the tank and work your way toward the carb. Maybe you get enough flow to idle but not enough flow for driving?? | | |

Next time you shut it off hot, pull the air cleaner and work the throttle. If your accelerator pump is squirting gas it's probably not vapor lock.
