| | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 12 | hello, I have a '54 5 window that i am going to rat rod.I would really like to use as much of the orig. chassis as possible.I am planning to chop the chassis behind the cab and put a z in the frame with some 2x3 or 2x4 and box in the rest with flat steel. what I would reall y like to do to the front is some how have a hairpin front susp. Any advice? right now i still have the straight axle that was in it but it has the 2 leaf springs. I know that i can get every thing i need from speedway, just asking if anyone out there that has been doing this for a long time knew of a cheaper way? thanks. wayne

Front suspension. As you can see the springs were moved on top the frame and forward. The center of the spring, where the axle is usually bolted on, was fixed to the front of the frame and the axle was bolted to the front end of the springs, using hairpins to locate the axle. I'm not saying this is a good or safe approach, only that it is one I've seen.

Yes, it's an old Dell running Ubuntu and is really only a web server not a file server. The weakest link is not the laptop, it never gets stressed. My bandwidth provider has been causing stress and the solution to that problem includes close to ten times the bandwidth. At that point you'll be able to access more of my photos faster and the laptop may need an upgrade. I'm ready, I have a newer old Dell standing by.
