Somebody with access to a GM part number cross reference, can you please help me identify a set of connecting rods? They look like Chevy babbited rods, and I bought them as such, but the sizes are wrong. The wrist pin hole is much too large, about 15/16" diameter, but it's got the same style clamp bolt as a Chevy. The rod is about an inch longer than a splasher 235 rod, and the rod journal diameter is just slightly over 2 inches, much smaller than a 216/235 journal. The GM forging number is 837684. I'm thinking early Pontiac or Oldsmobile, maybe? How about the old straight-8 Buicks- - - -did they have splasher rods? I got them at a bargain price, so if they're scarce items, maybe I can turn a small profit on a resale.
