Has anyone used the Jim Carter seat upholstery kits for the 41-46 trucks? How do they look when done? Are they worth the price or is it cheaper/better to take the seat to an upholstery shop?

It is not proper as the piping runs all the way around the upper edge of the bottom cushion as apposed to the original where the piping went along the sides and then turned down as is customary. This would cause premature wear and perhaps discomfort. Improper Proper The local auto uphostery shop agreed to do mine for $200 but I have not gotten to it yet.

I would agree with that 100%. The difference in cost by having an upholstry shop do it is well worth it. I got a kit from one of the vendors and was real unhappy with the way it fit, once it was sewn there taint much you can do about it. Next time I'll spend the few bucks extra and spend my time on something more productive while I wait for my seat to get finished.

"The local auto uphostery shop agreed to do mine for $200 but I have not gotten to it yet." We have 2 upholstery shops in town that have been in business since before I was born and they are perfectly capable of sewing ones just like the original, but they just never seem to get around to it.

No, I meant, >I< had not gotten around to it as I just bought 5 600-16 BFG blackwall tires and tubes for $735 plus about $100 shipping plus $100 installation and am clean out of gold!

The back cushion was fairly close to original, but I cannot comment on the fit as I sent it back without installing it because the bottom cushion was so wrong.

I got a fitted cover for my 64 ( $189.00) from LMC, and it went on pretty nicely. Be careful though, as they do rip at the seams if you pull too hard on them.......luckily, I was able to "hide" my little rip. The rest went smoothly, and it looks real nice. It seems to be of pretty good quality, and is quite comfortable as well.
