I found one entry that suggested the cab mounts need to be adjusted. I'm not sure how to determine if this is the root cause. Could the engine mount cause a similar effect if they are broken down? The link below has pictures inside the cab and the engine compartment. http://picasaweb.google.com/erik.zollinger/Early1947GMC12TonLongBed# | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 42 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 42 | Probably a cab alignment issue, as the pedals mount to the frame, and not the drivetrain. At least they do on my '57.

The clutch pedal on my truck also rubbed the floorboard. I changed both the motor mounts & the pedal bushings and the problem went away. Nice truck by the way. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | In the past, I've had to adjust the pedal shaft (the part your foot goes on) on the shaft (the part the pedal shaft connects to) to the master cylinder. This sounds really complicated but once you look you'll see what I'm talking about. There should be a bolt and a nut holding both shafts together by the brake switch on the engine firewall.

The cab mounts, motor mounts and the bracket and shaft of the pedals connect to. I wiggled the clutch and brake armatures and there is not a enough play to make up the difference. I'm leaning toward the motor mounts. One person I talked with suggested I jackup the motor and see if that does correct it and that might suppport the motor mount theory. Again thanks for your help...this forum is great. Same link: http://picasaweb.google.com/erik.zollinger/Early1947GMC12TonLongBed# | | |
