Where do you find seat upholstery kits like the one in the pic (Sorry I stole it from another thread). I removed the vinyl cover from my seat and discovered the exact same cover.

I doubt you'd find a 'kit' with that exact material and pattern, it's an extra cost optional cover, likely not common, but some searching might turn up similar material that you would then have done up by an upholsterer

What you're looking for according to the pic is the custom option seat fabric. It is nylon fabric that will be trimmed in vinyl. I used this in the resto of my 59 and though a little pricey you can find it at SMS Auto Fabrics http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ along with the vinyl. BTW, I used the charcoal/gold combination but it is also available both in blue and green depending on the color of your paint. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info on where to find the correct material/vinyl. Did you have to send them samples to match up or did they know what you needed? I'll need the Charcoal/gold combo. My truck is Tartan Turquoise. The restored 59 currently on ebay has the same interior.

Brian, Sorry to say I can't really remember as it's been awhile and hate to give you bum scoop. If you are having an upholstery shop do the seat as I did they should be able to tell you how much of each to order. I ended up with a little extra which I held onto in case it was ever needed for a repair job. You might also contact SMS with the measurements of each seat piece and am sure they can figure whats needed. Again, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Resto, By all means if you have fabric samples available it is best to send them to SMS. A 2-3 inch square of each is plenty. I found that the nylon sample had held up fairly well against color change but that the vinyl has a tendency to change a lot due to the sun etc. My thanks still go out to Stovebolter "Tommy" who was able to provide me with samples since mine had been looong gone.
I was curious when you mentioned your truck was painted Tartan Turquoise as I thought the blue colored nylon might be what you needed. Got my Dealer Data Book out and found the Beige/Charcoal is the correct color though.

SMS is the place. They might take a while, but they have come through on multiple occasions for me. A quick call to them should get you the correct yardage. Tell them it's only one seat, not a Suburban. It is their business after all.
I'm unfamiliar with the Task Force trucks, but there was plenty left on my order to match up the sunvisors to the seat material for a perfect match.

Thanks guys, I sent an email to SMS requesting samples for my truck after a long explanation of the colors and style. I also told them I could send samples off my origianl seat cover if they were unsure. I've not heard back yet but hope they come up with the correct material.

I received the SMS seat material samples today. The seat fabric (charcoal background with gold squares)looks like a perfect match to my original. The gold vinyl color looks correct but I'll have to peel away more of the seat re-cover to tell for sure.
One more question. Were the back of the seats covered from the factory? Mine is open. You can see the seat springs and padding when pulling the seat back forward.

Glen, keep in mind that the vinyl trim may have faded/changed color after years of exposure so the sample may not appear a "perfect" match. The back of the seat was covered with a cardboard piece you can find at some of the vendors. It is held on with sheet metal screws and recessed washers you can find at Lowes or Home Depot. Check the back of your seat frame for possible original holes.
