Anyway It really caught my Eye and am really considering leaning toward this color for my 59. Anyway my question to all of you is if I took these pictures to my local Auto Body paint supply house, do you think it would be possible for them to come close to a match. I've never had to buy auto paint let alone set foot in a paint supply house and I don't want to look like a fool walking in with pictures looking for a match. Any suggestions on trying to find a match would be appreciated. JOSH

Any shop that specializes in custom paint should have these, or at least good color cards. Only twist might be if guy had paint custom mixed at shop. | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | When I went to paint shop to get the color for My truck it was only in My head I had to look thru a bunch of color books and when I found a color that was close I would ask what was in it as far as the colors I was looking for a blue grey or gun metal grey so when I found a combo that had just blue white and black I knew I had the color some where darker than others but it still made it easyer to pick it out . The color books are in sections it will go from yellow to green with all the different combos between also go out and set in the sun when Your looking, the guy in the shop said to and it made a big differance.

Hope the employees there have some patience because I really like the looks of this color and will do anything in my power to find it, also I will bombard them with many questions as this will be the first vehicle I've really painted my self. Well be sides my buddies 68 Camaro in high school some 18 yrs ago that turned out as good as 2 16 year old's can do with no experience. | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 33 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 33 | Jawdy, Not sure if yo are lookig for this tan color totally or soemthing in the gold "ish" family, I will offer up for your consideration a place my son buys paint some times. he is a painter by trade. and has laid down some really cool things http://www.alsacorp.com/products/killercans/candy/candy.htmThis one is called TRUE GOLD. this is under the "killer cans" section but you can buy it in other amounts not just cans. Gold colors are not something that crosss my mind as an option but when I saw this car 1952 buick with chop top I was stunned.. I know you do not know me but let me tell you thisis not a color you will forget any time soon. may be a little to yellow in comparison but not the shade changes it is not camelion paint or specturm paint.. It is just awesome is all I can use to discrib what I saw.. | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 33 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 33 | Oh by the way just FYI the paint for my 65 is on this same link... check out the turquoise....I am going to be a bad man.(laughing) hope this helps in some way.. | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 | Pete, that's the kind of answer I was looking for. Reminds me of a 1959 F*&$ pickup I painted when I was young, broke and leaching off a neighborhood shop. Owner said just go to the paint cabinet and see what I could find. I pulled five or six dark colors and mixed them all together and painted away. The color seemed to change in different lighting depending how you looked at it. I called it black on the DMV paperwork. | | |
