it is a 1950 3100 series. VIN is 6HPB3108, so built in oakland ca in feb of '50.

about the truck: apparently it was bought new by a family in the owen's valley in eastern ca. there's a series of small towns there including bishop, independence, and lone pine. i'm not sure about it's history during the first 16 years, but it was bought from the son of the family by john atwood, my wife's grandfather in '66. he drove it a while, and his son (my father in law) drove it a lot as a teen. after my father in law moved away, john atwood used it as a work truck for many years. when it reached the end of it's service life, he gave it to my father in law as a project car. It was driven for a few years as a novelty then parked in a field in lone pine ca, sometime around 1984. it's a real 'it was running when i parked it' story. at one point it was towed when they moved from lone pine to bishop. now they're moving again so it was passed on to me, the husband of his eldest daughter. it was towed to long beach, and now i have a lengthy project ahead, that i'm looking forward to.
