I know the shop manual does not call for any sealers when installing the rear differential, but things have changed in the last 60 years.

Any suggestions about sealers for the gaskets?

My tendency is to put them together dry and deal with the weeping. This is a daily driver.

I use RTV silicone on my over the road trucks as well as my old jalopies and use 80/140 Synthetic. I have zero leaks. Some people find the silicone oozing out objectionable, but it can be cut off with a razor. Over the road trucks have come from the factory with silicone for about 20 years or longer.
