Originally seemed to have hints of brown/beige/maroon. I know there's a special paint out there sold by Classic Parts America....is that the "correct" color? Did colors vary from 47-53? Thanks.

There isn't an exact code for the steering wheel, mast jacket or shift lever, which are, all the same color. Nor is there one for the grill bars on the radio/glove box grill, the Harrison heaters, or the dark gray used on the 216 and early 235 engines. There also are no color codes for the white stripes at the belt line or on the rims or the white color for the back bars in the front grill. The paint in the picture I posted is custom mixed from a sample; there is no formula for it. It's difficult to get the dealers to develop a formula because every drop of tint has to be measured and recorded, it gets expensive. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

Standing by itself it looks purty good, and if the steering column and wheel were both painted I doubt if the average person could tell that it’s not right. But when you compare it next to the real thing it just taint right. This color was matched to the original color that was on the backside of the wheel. The samples really looked close in the paint store before it was sprayed on here at home. And before you all ask, yes it was mixed and mixed and mixed when I opened the can here at home, so there wern’t no color laying on the bottom of the can nor hiding in the corners. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/116068222 http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/116067842 So now I’ll have to find another dealer and see if he can come closer using the mast jacket as a sample. The problem is getting the steering gear out of the truck without a lift. I’ve been told that it will come out from the bottom without having a lift, but I won’t believe that till I see it done. Well it’s back to the drawing board for now, at least I won’t have to put up with that sticky black hard rubber anymore! Denny Graham Sandwich, IL
