What size 6 lug rims and tires are you guys running on your Task Force trucks?

I have the new disc brakes now on the front of my 3100 that is need of new tires and trying to figure out what would be a good combination to go with. My suspension is stock and the truck is really only driven around town on Friday and Saturday nights. I am all over the place on the look, as I currently have 15" aluminum mags with 235/75/15 black walls that look ok, but then again I have seen some cool looking cars with the wide whites and painted rims that might be an interesting look too. Thoughts?

Also, what impact on steering will I see if I go narrow on the front and wide on the rear, understanding I have a fair amount of wander now when I hit a hard bump in the road?

I'm running 15x8 Blazer rallyes with 30x9.50x15 C load range Michelin tires on mine. Plenty of clearance, handling is good too.
You may want to check the steering box and tie rods (if you still have the original style) for play, that could be your wandering problem.

Bill,

Nice looking truck! You have done some pretty clever things that I am going to copy if you do not mind! I have not checked the steering box.... kind of like being sick and not wanting to go to the doctor and find out it needs to be rebuilt. Tie rod ends have been changed to new style and the rest of the linkages seem fine. I notice you have added a steering stabilizer?

Yup. Moog part #SSD12. Had to modify the mounting bracket to the axle a bit, as I also have an anti-sway bar on it as well, which also needed a custom mounting. The mounts that came with the bar, a CCP peice, didn't fit my axle very well. So we used the brackets as a pattern, and made one to fit, and included a stabilizer mount as part of it. I also have a sway bar in the rear as well. Truck handles very nicely.
I am still running the original tie rods, with aftermarket urethane boots added.

Hey Longbox55 what type/model trailer hitch did you use? I have a 57 3100 and I have been wondering what to use for a hitch.

Thanks

It's custom built. The only factory part is the receiver itself, which is a Reese. It was loosly patterned off the Reese hitch off my Dads '88 3/4 ton, then sized to fit the '55 frame width. The cross tube is 3" square, side plates are 1/4", all TIG welded. I used existing holes in the frame (2 factory, 4 from the original homemade hitch that was on it when I got it) to mount it up. It also has a universal 4 wire trailer harnes on it as well. The hitch plug is custom made as well. 1/4" stainless, sized off of a Kodiak truck grille emblem. I'm also using a spare tire carrier from a late model C 1500, the winch type, so there's no interference there.

While truck ralleyes' seem to be a popular choice have you thought about aluminum slots?

Your truck looks great and I think the big and little approach you talked about with some old slots would be killer.

Just my 02 cents.
