I have 2 that we found out were rusted at the last minute. Any help would be appreciated. | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy 48ton1/2wrckr, are you looking for "Budd wheels", "Motor wheels", or "Kelsey wheels", how many hand holes in the wheels you're looking for, do you want an exact match for the wheels you have, or would three piece wheels be okay? What are the wheels going on to, how wide are the wheels you have now, what size tires are you going to mount on these wheels? | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 | I believe they are considered to be motor wheels. They have 6 holes around the outside, the center hole opening is 6 inches. The wheel has 5 lug holes that are 7 1/2 inches center to center. The wheel is 9 inches deep from center of hub hole to the floor. The outside is 7 1/8 inches from outside to outside without the lockring. The tire size that is going on it is 7.50 - 20. The wheels are going on a 1948 GMC 1 1/2 ton wrecker with a holmes 515c rig. We would like to stay all original if possible but will do what we have to do. The wheels on the back looked the worst but were usable, then the front actually looked alot better but the insides were rusted through. The tires have already been purchased so we want something that would be usable with what we have. If you know of anything or have any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Best bet to find some is start walking through junkyards, that's where I see them more often than not. Last truck I saw with a set was south of Hutchinson KS in a junk yard...

It took me a while to find a couple of them, but a couple of members came through on a pair. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 187 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 187 | If you can't find 5 lug maybe you can find 10 lug and swap the centers.

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow, and have my partner post them for you, [I'm confusilator challenged] Did you post an ad at the Old GMC Trucks site yet, someone closer than me must have these wheels! | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 | The wheel looks right! What is the size of the lug and the depth of the wheel. They look like what we are looking for. How much would you want for them? | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy 48ton1/2wrckr, I want you to post a wanted ad over at Old GMC Trucks.com first, because I can't believe that someone closer than me doesn't have some of these wheels. If you can't find them closer, I would like to get $30.00 each for the wheels, plus what it costs me to get the tires removed, plus crating/boxing materials, plus any fees for shipping across the border, plus shipping fees if I must ship prepaid. | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 | Hey 48ton1/2wrckr, Where are you located in TN? I thought I had seen some of these around here but I can't remember if it was in a junkyard or on a farm. You should be able to find some close. I will keep my eye out for some. | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 9 | hey dsmith I am in Nashville and we have looked everywhere that we could think of. I am in Fairview just west of Bellevue. I know of a guy outside of Fairview that has a late 50s u-haul truck that might have the same wheels in his junkyard. I will have to check, if he doesn't have one he may know of someone that might. I will let you know what I find out. He has odd hours at the salvage yard and you almost have to accidently find him there. I will try to see if he is there this weekend. You need to post some pics of your truck so we can watch the progress.
