wanting to repower a big bolt.i found a 1980 chevy C70 with a 4 cyl detroit.it has a turbo on the right side fed into the blower on the left side,4-71 ??.thanks

4-53T!

That's exactly what I started with for my truck, a 4-53T, but from a 78 GMC 6500.

Simple way to tell in this case is if the valve cover is held on with screws around the edges it's a 53 series, if hand wheels on the top it's a 71. (rule doesn't apply if aluminum valve cover)
Or, if the governor is on the opposite side of the engine from the blower its a 53, if the governor is driven by the blower its a 71.
