I am trying to bring my 53 3100, back to original. Down to the correct Truck ID, Generator and Starter ID tags. I have all of the original and replacement tags. Just need to have them stamped correctly. Would like to have them done right. Has anybody had this done for them professionally? If so, I would appreciate any information that you could give me. I bought one set of stamps from ebay. They were advertised as 1/8". However, when they arrived, they were in MM. I just don't want to stamp my tags with Chinese crap.
Thanks for your time and efforts, in advance.

Also check out VCCA Vintage Chevrolet Club of America's website and see what they offer. You could try emailing or calling Chevs of the 40s, as they sell all this stuff and may have some info for you.

OldSub, you are right, I have not yet solved the ID plate stamping, to my satisfaction. My factory ID plate on my 53 3100, looks different from the reproductions. The place that you are supposed to stamp the numbers and letters, is much narrower. The 1/8" inch stamps you bought would have probably worked. Ken, was able to find a set of numbers at an auction. Still need numbers. I bought, what was advertised as 1/8" set, on ebay. Now the big task, is find a slightly smaller size for the genetator and starter. JiMerit, I appreciate the advice, concerning Chev's of 40's. I have actually been there about this very subject. As a matter of fact, that is where I bought one of the ID plates that I have. The other from Jim Carter. Both look identical. They don't seem to know anything about stamping them. I think that the VCCA is a very good idea. I think that I will do some investigating, on their site.
Thanks again for the ideas. OldSub, In will try not to let you down. Will try to get to the bottom of this ID stamping.
