There were two styles of fresh air heaters. The 53-55 style had a cable-controlled door on the right front of it.

There are different style GMC heaters and different styles of earlier Chevrolet trucks heaters.

GMC or Chevrolet?

tclederman, I think the one your are referring to was called a DELUXE heater. I have one that is NOS never been installed in orginial box labeled "Deluxe Heater", made by Harrison. This heater can be used as a fresh air, recirculating or anywhere in between.

wodniw5, the heaters will fit a COE or 3100, recirculating, fresh air or deluxe.

AD_Pickup,

The name "Deluxe Heater" was the name of different style heaters sold by Chevrolet between 1947-1955. That's why I asked for the year of the two trucks (even though any heater from any year might have found their ways into the two trucks over the years).

Also, GM might have used different names for the same heater in different documents and in parts lists in the same year. And, GMC and Chevrolet might have used different names for the same style of heater in the same year.

That's why a photo (or two) is always worth many words (and mistaken identities).

Tim

Here is the 1947 Heater & Defroster - De Luxe (it has two motors)

Here is the Fresh Air Ventilator, Heater & Defroster

In 1950, the name "Fresh Air" was not even used.

In 1954, the name "Air Flow" was used instead of "Fresh Air".

IN 1954, GMC used the word "AIRFLOW" for what I think is the heater in question.

The Airflow is the same NOS that I have. Why is DELUXE on the orginial box??

That is what GM used as a name for that style heater in the year that heater was sold.
