So i have been cooking up some ideas about how i'm gonna put a power brake booster and dual master on my 62 with the hydraulic clutch.i've got a couple ideas bangin around my head, but would like to see what my fellow bolters have tackled this problem. i know some of the aftermarket suppliers sell bolt on units for like a million bucks,i'm more interested in some "homemade" solutions.....Mark

I used the master cylinder and booster from a 73-78 K series truck.Made my own brackets to mount to the firewall ,I also used the proportioning valve since I have disc brakes on the front.


In the works 2006 GEN III 6.0 /4L80E/ 205 New process,A/C and power brakes .

I bought a kit. It's not that I'm lazy, I just figured my time is worth something, and when figuring my time plus the parts scrounging plus the "engineering" to make it work, I couldn't justify doing it myself. I love scrounging and DIY, but not in that case.

One solution for you would be to convert to '63-up mechanical clutch linkage, but you'll need a later bellhousing too.

Since the clutch master cylinder is usually the problem, the following link shows an alternate home engineered hydraulic clutch cylinder on my 1960. This setup was cheaper than the kit and works great. The second link shows a larger picture of the engine compartment. To clean up the are I mounted the proportioning valve on the crossmember rather that near the master cylinder.

thanks for the responses y'all...this has helped me with my own idea for a bracket. i think i can even use my original master/clutch unit,cutting the end on the brake bore and running a longer pushrod through to a booster mounted in front on my bracket. the clutch master would still operate the same,with the same stock pedal setup,and no extra holes to drill. i will post a pic when i have the finished project.....Mark
