For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 | My application is a 55 2nd series truck although what I'm looking for could just as well be a car. I switched to an automatic choke(rebuilt carb fron Jim Carter). The fuel inlet is in a different place on a Rochester carb than the non automatic choke version. I haven't found a fuel line for it. I bent the existing one up and it barely reached and the carb works well but I'd like to get or make a line that looks like a cave man didn't make it.
Anyone got a source? I did contact Carter where I bought it and received no answer. It's not mentioned in the catalog. They must use carbs like that on cars. Either a prebent source or vendor for straight pieces would save some time.
Thanks,
Keith

You can get the straight tubes at any parts store. It is 5/16 steel tube. They have a male swivel flare fitting on each end. They come in varios lengths usually 10 in increments. You usually have to cut one end & reflare it to get the correct length. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Just proved it to myself again..the rochester on my 235..Bought a kit..It ran Ok after that but not great...Hard to start, rough idle no matter how you tuned it...took the carb apart and reset everything..same difference..
Last week I'm up late on Jim Carters site and out of the blue I buy a rebuilt carb..upgraded to automatic choke. Hook the carb up, turn the key on...step on the starter...instant nice idle first try, even with no gas in the carb..just a prime.Seems to happen to me all the time. I'm thinkin it must be better deep cleaning of the passages where they rebuid them.
Thanks..I feel better now..Got a good running engine even though I don't know why I can't do it with one of my rebuilt carbs.
when it is fixed, dont mess with it..lol get you a rubber line to use till you can find what you want, you cant bend them..

The Filling Station sent me to their supplier, Inline Tubes, who had this application listed. By the way this is what you'll need if you ever go automatic choke. I got my automatic choke rebuild from Carter..took it out of the box, isnstalled it and the engine started right up with a good idle. I like it!
