I'm in the process of rebuilding a couple of engines. My existing 270CID in my '48 GMC Pickup (like the power). When I did the last major on the 270, the parts store sold me a set of rod bearings that where only 1 inch wide with 1/8 inch notch/lock. Since then I found that the original bearings were 1 5/16 inch wide with a 1/4 inch notch/lock. The engine is not original to the pickup. Anyone know where to find the correct rod bearings? Or do I go to Egge at $15.00/bearing.

Thanx

Try calling Kanter Auto Parts in Boonton New Jersey @ 1 800-526-1096 or www.kanter.com.They had all the parts I needed(new pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets) for my 261 Chevy. They even had tail pipes for my V8 Studebaker.Egge parts are great but very costly $$

Please don't double-post these questions. There has been a lot of it going on lately, it just spreads things out all over the place.

As I said in the other thread, try the OldGMCtrucks forum - someone there should be able to help.
