I have a 55.1 Chevy and am trying to get the steering arm off of the steering box. I have taken the nut and lock washer off and tried heat pry bar PB Blaster and a BFH. Nothing is moving except for some threads that I have buggered up. Any help would be great.

Also on the same truck the drivers front leaf spring has the numbers 22-164? on it in yellow paint. I am wondering is this the origanal part number or what? How much should I worry about putting that back on for a 100% correct truck?

need a 2 or 3 arm puller, maybe heat and a good smack with a BFH....

Yellow paint could mean a wrecking yard mark, but I don't know how they were marked from the factory. I've never seen any paint marks on the springs, but would hesitate to suggest that means anything...

I think yelloiw paint is a common way of marking rebuilt parts including springs. As far as removing the Pitman arm, you ned to use a puller. Using an impact wrench on the puller will give you a better chance of success.

I have seen that but this looks professional. Most if not all of the salvage yards I have seen just scribble it on. This looks like it was layed out with templates or something. I also do not see any reason that the spring has been replaced. IE.. the same pitina on the other spring just no number. I also found the number 16 in, white crayon, on the drives side under the hood hinge, you could not see it untill I took the hinge off. Was wondering what that means as well?
