The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Tool Chest Tool to remove float assembly in 57 ?

Guys, I need to remove the float assembly in my 1957 3100. The fasteners that hold it in the tank are not a torch, allen, phillips or straight. Looks like a small square hole?? Where can I find a bit like this? Any help would be appreciated.

You must be talking about a Robertson screw head? They usually have two sizes in drivers, a red handle and a green handle. This is a Canadian invention that lost out to the Philips type.

Ole Skool Trucks, are they clutch head by any chance?

I am not sure what a clutch head is...sorry it actually looks like a carriage head but with a square hole.

Clutch head screws look like mini bowties...
Robertson head screws look like Squares...

Where I live in Canada Robertson screwdrivers are on the shelf at every hardware store. Here is the story of the Robertson screw:

actually Nix, there's also black handle [#1] and yellow [#4] and America has finally accepted them, ought to be able to find the drivers at most good tool suppliers now
