The upholster said that the headliner was a two piece that connects in the middle with metal trim. I have two trim parts, one for the front and one for the back. There is a bar in the middle that has tapped holes for screws but I do not remember ever having a trim piece that goes in the center of the headliner. Did the 1939's have a center trim? I had a 51 1/2 and I remember that being two pieces and having a trim in the middle. I want the 39 to have a padded headliner and he told me if it was padded and did not have a trim part in the middle it would sag. Can anyone give me some advice on this? Thanks in advance.

I have a centre metal " bow " piece that spans across between the door openings. My Upholsterer used a single piece of hardboard as backing, then applied padded vinyl fabric. I don't see why you would need a 2 piece headliner ? | | |
