i have replaced the rear shoes and brake cylinders. i replaced the front brake drums shoes and wheel cylinders, bled the whole system and addjusted the front brakes even double checked the rear brakes but im still haveing problems with the brakes {its driven me nuts} i can only get the drivers side rear brakes to lock up in dirt any sugestions ???

Hy Perry Dean, did you replace the front brake flex hoses? When you adjusred your brakes, did you adjust each wheel until you could not turn it, and then back off four or five notches? Did you get a good clean fluid flow out of the bleed screws when you bled the brakes?

i didnt replace the hoses they seam fine and dont leak but i did everything else
i bled allmost two bottles of brake fuild throught it

hows your pedal feeling Perry?Could be a block in the lines-hopefully you have fluid through all the cylinders.when i did my brothers 63 c60 it took time for the pedal to come up and stay hard.After driving the truck for a bit all this went AWAY.I think its a finiky process with the hydrovac. Keep us posted please because im doing this same job this weekend to my 65 c60!Do not go nuts! Timbuk

thats the part i cant figure out the pedal feels good and iv gotten fluid throught all the bleeders
after reading Bob Burgoynes tec tip i might as well tackle the booster as well
it probly needs some help

have a good look at all the rubber lines like 3b says...they will mess ya over...

the rubber brake lines can rupture on the inside and look fine from the outside id look into replaceing them

I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT someone way back when blocked the vent line of the hydrovac with a wine cork.
i took it out cleaned it up and presstooo i have brakes.
all i have to do now is fine tune the brakes.
it was just a flewk that i found it but someone had said in a post i was reading that if you cant HEAR the sucking sound of the hydrovac its not working so i was gona take it off.
so i started to unhook the vent line that goes to the horse hair filter in the cab and found it wasnt even hooked up i looked in the end of the hose and there it was a cork from a wine bottle i took it out and did the start the truck with your foot on the brake test and my pedal moved {first time it did}
so i took it out cleaned it up hooked it up started the truck and i could hear the sucking sound of the hydrovac so i took it out for a test drive and MAN you hit the brakes and it will put 9 cents change on the dash

That's great to hear, Perry. Glad you got her so she will whoa up, that's pretty dang important. That is one problem with these old trucks, you never know what the previous owners have done that you have to fix.

perry i have a inline brake lock . once i forgot to unlock it and it took me all day to figure out why my brakes were locked lol

goood news Perry i put new cylinders in my c60 and the one rear wheel still kept leaking i took it all apart and finally i figured it out the guy before me put the shoes on backwards,popping out one piston every time i stepped on the brakes!Ahhh,the HANDS OF TIME............i think this is what i will name my bus!
