Just found out last night from my Step-Dad that there was an auction this past Saturday about 45 minutes from my house. I didn't see any advertising about it and I guess nobody else did either; the turnout was small. Anyway, they sold two '47 Chevy 2-ton stakebed trucks that belonged to a local university. One was a long wheelbase, one was short. My Step-Dad was told that they looked like they had always been stored inside and that they ran like new.

I hate to put you all through the pain I felt last night when I found out about this, but here goes... they sold for $150.00 each! I also found out that a big Massey Fergusson farm tractor went for $150.00. I need to try to find out who got this stuff.

Grigg, not to make you feel worse, but the auction was near Churchville... probably about 20 minutes from you!

Goerge, don't ya hate hearing that stuff?! I'm surprized that no one gave you the heads up on the auction. Do you know who the auctioneer is? Maybe they have a website or even a mailing list for future gold mines.

But if you got all the good deals out there you'd have a full yard and end up parking on the street..

See if you can track them down, but don't worry about to much.

I hadn't heard anything about an auction either, and couldn't have made it last weekend even if I did.

With luck a fellow or first time Stovebolter picked them up and we'll hear about them soon.

Thats a good idea Grigg, if you could find out who bought them, maybe they would be interested in a %100 return on there money! It would still be a great deal. George, you've got plenty of room for a few more Big Bolts.....

I think all the old stovebolt owners end up here sooner or later "if" they plan to save and use the bolts! I'll bet they find us.

Well, that young stove bolter WASNT me...Darn. Those are some good deals...I sure hope it wasnt a Massy 98 with a Detroit in it...That was a STEAL!!! if it was...

I have an auctioneers favorites folder. When I see a auction sale bill in the local ad sheets with a web site, I add it to the folder.
Then every Wednesday, I check out what auctions are coming up for the following week.

Most web sites list their auctions about a month in advance with pictures and I can plan several weeks in advance to go to a auction.

The problem is, I then tend to go to more auctions, and thus bring home more stuff.
And my wife just rolls her eyes and says "well at least your not sitting in a bar".

I have made some good buys on old cars and trucks,
But never that good. Just hope it wasn't scrappers that got them, they could make $100 dollars each at the scrap yard and not even have to load them up to get them there.

Got back from the AACA National Show in Charlotte yesterday afternoon. The weather was perfect and the show/swapmeet was impressive. The Burb won again (Senior Award)... the final goal is a Grand National First at New Bern, NC next year. I might still take it to Gettysburg next month.

CONGRADULATIONS George! Thats awesome. No doubt in my mind that you wouldn't win. The Grand National 1st is a lock in my book.

Congrats George, Hope you're keeping a scrapbook so you can keep some memories. Not everyone can experience what you are. It's also very cool to have a brag book. Hopefully we'll see you and the family in a couple of weeks.
