I need to know what motor mounts (perches) I need on the PASSENGER side of my truck. Seems my 62 apache has a 292 motor in it and the passenger side mount does not want to line up at all. I know someone on here knows the answer, just need a little help. Also, where can I find said mount that I need?
I believe the chassis to be a two wheel drive, 1966 chassis. The cab is a 62. I need to bolt this motor down properly, I have it running and I want to make it safe. thanks Kevin | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 787 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 787 | r/s (passenger side on a 292 is forward and offset. It is a different tower than either the 230, 250 I6's took or a 283. just to verify your frame does it have torsion bar or coil spring suspension you have a PM ron | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 94 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 94 | It has coil suspension with shocks in the front | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 | on the motor bracket itself make sure you have the 2 bolt spacers installed on the 2 bolts. they are 5/8" or 3/4" and they give the motor bracket the proper angle to match up with perch. i think you MAY just use a drivers side mount on this with the spacers if you don't have the orig pass side one. the mount is pretty available and the same as 250/ and v8 i think. the frame perch is a little harder. you can't simply move the perch foward to the foward position on frame if it's the 250 or v8 perch the holes won't line up. you will have to get one specificly out of a 292. the big truck ones will work, may require a flat spacer between the mount and perch. some of the big truck mounts are flat and thicker and don't have the lip. ther is a possibility i am wrong on all of this so .... use at your own descrecion. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 | did you ever get the 292 bolted in? | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 94 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 94 | naw, I still need a pass side engine perch. anyone got one?
