Is it possible to get an orginial type one ? The Universal Cruise Control kits sell for under $100.00, and if you've got some basic skills is not difficult to install. They are commonly used on motorcycles because of their compact/simple design.
Being a universal kit you get plenty of optional stuff to mount the servo to the throttle linkage. My setup is a little different than the stock single carb so I had to do some extra tweaking but the system works like a champ. I'd suggest you "Google" Audiovox CCS-100 as there is plenty of info available. Incidently, if you're running a stock engine you won't have to go through all the vacuum reservoir fabrication that is shown when adapting it to a motorcycle.

You might get your local dealer to run a search on his dealer parts locater for the kit. Some of the old small town dealers didn't throw anything away. The servo was used for many years and the switch was also. As for cables you can make cables for the length you need with a universal speedometer cable. The hard part is the wiring and wiring connectors (if you can't find a kit). You can still get a stop lamp switch for cruise control from our local part supplier. The clutch switch and bracket may be a problem (if you have standard shift). And there are several companys that make universal cruise controls as a one size fits them all kit.
I didn't do it, no one saw me do it, you can't prove anything! "Bart Simpson" | | |
