A block I had in question has the following raised lettering by the starter, CON 4 L66. Since these are raised I questioned if it was a 261.
The serial number on the pad by the distributor is a real funky one in my opinion, FI2I7H. I wonder if this isn't a rebuilder number?
Finally the block casting number on the left side of the engine shows 3837004 which Inliners web site does indeed show it to be a 55-57 235 cu. in. engine. Since this is in a 1960 Apache 30 it shows the engine has been replaced with an earlier one.

This one tells that the engine was built at the Flint plant (F) on December 17 (1217), and the H suffix is for the regular production Thriftmaster 235 used in the '57 31-32-36-3800 series trucks. The block casting date code (L66) decodes to December 6, '56 in this case.
