or does anyone know of a good 465 for a 1 ton 2wd for sale in central IL ?
thanks for anything

The mainshaft (and transmission) must be completely dissasembled in order to get new syncros on. This is not a cheap or easy process.
The sm465 was put into trucks from late 60s up into the late 80s - in both 2wd and 4wd trucks. Don't worry about getting one from a 1 ton - all sm465s hav the same internals. Any 2wd sm465 will work. You should have no trouble finding one at almost any junkyard. It certainly will be cheaper than fixing the one you have. | | |

junkyards want wayyyyy too much for a 465, around 300 bucks
68-88 are the years
2wd are 35 spline
thats what id have to find
im going to either put in th400 or gonna part the truck out as i have no way to reinstall a 175lb tranny, its impossible to do in gravel, hell i dont evne weigh that much
unless someone knows a secret that i dont
thanks

Some one on this websight must have one laying around. Post an ad in the parts wanted section. 2 good men can put it in. One on top & one underneith with a strap attached to it. Or if you take the seat out you can put straps around the top of the cab & hang it from a com-along. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
