I have a '51 3/4 ton with the same huck brake issues - one of my drums split completely. I see 'mapleleaf' tried the '53 brakes on the front. I know this is an old thread but is anyone haveing any luck with the front conversion - full axle replacement or otherwise?

Would this conversion work with the rear end out of a 1946 3/4 Chevrolet?

What model truck did you take the rear brakes off in order to do this drum brake conversion?
