I am looking at this bumper: http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cb/CBBMR.htmthe 38-9737 one. The question I have is, my C10 is a 64 and I was wondering if it would fit? It's ok if I have to fab custom brackets I do have a welder, drill press etc. My main concern is if it will fit the contours of my truck or if it will look out of place. | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 16 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 16 | In my opinion, the step bumper would look out of place. If towing capability is what you are after, look in LMC 1960-1966 Chevy catalog page 46. That is the best set up for towing, and when not using it, kind of hidden. All this is just my way of thinking. All that matters is what you want. Your truck, your money, your style.

Be happy with what you have. Not unhappy with what you have'nt.

See the thing is, the truck originally came with one of those step type bumpers but it was painted metal (it may have been put on by a dealer years ago I dont know but its olddddd) One of the things I am looking for is towing capacity but on that particular bumper there are also built in backup lights which my truck does not have, of course I could add those. The "style" of my truck is going to be daily driver/work horse, I am doing all the body work myself so it will keep some dents and dings, I want to be able to go to Lowe's and put some lumber in the back without too much worry about what it's going to do to the truck. My biggest question is if it will fit. | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | If you're serious about towing, you'll really want a frame mounted receiver type hitch. A bumper hitch just isn't really strong enough for any heavy towing. Reese still makes hitches that fit that year truck, and even then, one can easily be fabbed up with some 1/4" plate and square tubing.

I think the hitch type you are talking about is the same as what Tim was saying? | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Most likely. I'm not really familiar with what LMC offers. Most likely, theirs is Hidden Hitch brand istead of a Reese. Not saying one is better than the other, I'm just more familar with Reese as they are more popular in my area. On my own truck, I have a custom built hitch made from 1/4" plate, a 3" square tube, and a Reese receiver. But that's namely because there isn't a listing for my application.
