The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The HiPo Shop 46 1/2 disk brake install question

I have put my hubs on the spindle (new tapered bearings) and there is about an 1/8" space between the dust shield and the spindle. This is the thickness of the backing plate. Do I need to make a shim to fill this or will it matter?

Hy cavebull, I don't believe the dust shield will be required any longer, as you're not going to be using drum brakes any more, hope that helps.

Where did you get your rear disc kit?

Got all from ABS... front, rear, and master cylinder. Not sure about the calliper mount. I would like less pieces, but it is stout. As for service, they were great.
The rear is not a kit they market (for 46), but they contacted me numerous times asking for measurments etc. Only mod required by me was drilled two holes from 3/8 to 1/2 inch on the lower spindles on front. The rear was a bolt on. I have pictures of the complete install. All of those were just mock up/fit.
