Don,t know if I,m in the right category, maybe this belongs in the Interiors Section.
So Mods. Do what Ya gotta Do.
I Have blasted a set of gauge cans/backs down nice an purty.
They got a quick coat of prime and then a coat of gloss white on the inside.
Problem is,What do I spray on the outside to keep that quote factory looking Light Greyish almost bare metal Instrument cluster look.
Should I just shoot a coat of Clear.
I think gun metal grey is too much,or am I wrong.
Ideas,Opinions, All Welcome...

Eastwood sells rattle can paints in several "metal" finishes. You might consider them. They're not likely to be seen very often so unless you are restoring for shows this is something you can fudge. I painted mine black and if I had it to do over, I'd paint them white to give better visibility under the dash when there is work to be done under there.

I agree with the lightest color. I used a Duplicolor Rally wheel silver. It has a little metallic in it. It seems to reflect the light well. Have fun and good luck

It great making the old gauges look like new but a lesson I learned the hard way is make sure you remove the paint on the inside of the case where the gas gauge bolts on or the gauge will not work. You need a clean area for the gauge to have a good ground to the case. I used the eastwood on the outside looks like new

after blasting mine nice and clean I painted the inside of the case with Appliance White enamel. It is tough and will reflect the light.
For the outside I painted mine with the Hammered Silver and they came out looking real nice....at least I think so smile

and I use that VERY Loosely (as atomarc would say) grin
Thank you for your replys.
I just havn,t had the time to do anything this week.
The insides are all done and REALLY Look Great.
I think I,m gonna lean toward a Clear or a Lite color as mentioned, simply cause,it will help under the dash with visibility.
