I know this has been covered a bunch and I have seen the answer after doing a search but I can't remember where I saw it and now I can't find it again! I am running a fresh 261 with the original large 1 bbl rochester, stock intake and exhaust with an M4F cam. I have fentons and both an edelbrock and offy dual intake for future foolin' around. The truck just drove for the first time in 25 years but only around the block as it only has the cab on it. Its a 62 LWB fleetside. What do you recommend as the best igniton timing? I am set at TDC per specs right now. The cam was installed straight up and I think the lash is now 14/16. I have played with that, using the 6/13 spec that came with the cam but changed it to see the difference. If anyone could list their best preferred setup as far as lash, timing, idle etc. I'd really appreciate it. And I promise I'll write it down this time!!! smile

I like 5 to 8 degrees btdc on timing. If it pings under hard accel. set it back a little. Valve lash should be 8 & 13 with a stock cam. Follow the cam co,s specks on an aftermarket cam. Idle speed is 500 to 600 rpm. It may need a little more with a performance cam.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
