| | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 99 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 99 | I've been searching for information as to what lengths the beds were for '55-'59 trucks, and I KNOW I saw a posting awhile ago with numbers for the different lengths but I've not been able to find it anywhere through the search link. My main concern is my '55 3200 is a mutt of different year/model/make truck parts and I'm trying to piece together a decent bed for it. I remember seeing that even for the 3200 long bed there were two different lengths - how can I tell what length bed was originally on my truck? Or would either length fit? It honestly doesn't matter what length goes on there, but I don't want to be looking for and buying bed parts that I'll later find out won't fit onto my frame.

The frame on the earlier trucks is about 6" shorter that the later trucks. The 3200 long bed was 89 inches and in mid 57 also had a 97 inch bed. Measure the bed wood from the front panel to the rear sill. I think you will find yours is 89 inch. The 97 inch was only on the 57 as far as I know.

That appears to be the 98 inch long bed. It looks funny because the Barden bumper was removed and a repop chrome bumper put in it's place. The Barden bumper should wrap all the way around and connect to the fender giving you a nice rear step. | | |
