I have been doing different searches for over 2 hours and I need to go to bed!

Does anybody know the factory or original ride hight or "ground clearance", say from the bottom of the running board to the ground or the bottom of a bumper to the ground on our beloved 53' 3100 2wd?

I have a factory shop mannual and a assembly mannual, where am I not looking?

TIA, Zach

you may have to measure it..and then have the correct tires to make it original. but then someone might know.. the one I had was lowered so that would not work for you

might be hard to find a book that tells you this but ...

Frame (or platform) height (loaded and unloaded) is also shown in Chevrolet Truck Data Books.

Wow, thanks for all the info guys.

So that "A" measurement at that old car link is saying that from the bottom of the frame to the ground is 8 and 1/8" ? Or am i reading the drawing wrong?

But 3B's measurment above was 8 5/16" from the bottom of the lowest on the axle to the ground. The axle is easily 3-4" bellow the bottom of the frame, right? So I would guess 3B's truck is more like 12" from bottom of frame to ground up front?

Or was that "A" dimension from the bottom of the axle to the ground on the drawing?

Anybody have a frame to ground measurment in front and back?

It looks like the 3103 Cab Chassis has an unloaded measurement of 25.75" from ground to top of chassis.

The Truck Data Book has a number from ground to the bottom of the chassis, I think. I'll check it out later tonight.

The picture in an original 1949/50 Chevrolet Truck Data Book is quite clear and it confirms 3B's measure of 8 5/16" from bottom of front axle to ground. It also shows a distance of 20 3/4" from ground to top of rear frame rail in the 3103?

Thanks TC we have a 74' IFS in now and will be installing a Hiedts Mustang II so the front axle is long gone and not availible for reference.
