Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 34 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 34 | i have a 55 second series 3100 and i when and baught a better bed off of a 57 3100 ok everything ok the front brace where it bolts to frame the two middle ones are ok and bolting . but heres my question ok at the rear of the bed where the rear bed brace is and the frme rail ends theres two ears there where bolts go down threw but heres the thing the ears and my rear frame rails are not matching up the so called ears are 3 inches over from the ends of my frame rails so its leaving me where i caint bolt the rear of my bed down . i have notthing to go on for as when i baught the 55 it had no previous bed on it and i found the 57 and i was told its the same what could be wrong ????? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | someone cut the frame short to put a homemade deck on? the rear cross sill is turned around? you have the other cross sills in the wrong holes? how much room between the front bed panel and the back of the cab? [should be nearly touching]
the 55-66 bed is the same but some years hit the frame at slightly different points, and there's extra holes in most year frames
Bill | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 34 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 34 | well i got the bed on the truck theres just like 2 inches between the cab and front bed panel igot all the sills in place where they go and all them are working out correctly its just at the rear the rear sil looks ok and never been moved its just that the twp ear peices are off center from my frame rails its like the frasme needs to be wider to match them or something tomorrow i will take pics of this problem and if i can get your e-mail address ill let you see if you might can come up with a resolution cause im puzzled .. any help i can get id be appriated i problly need 3 or 4 people to look at the pics i will take of the problem and see . | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 406 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 406 | Chevyguy: It seems like you have a 60-62 bed that you are trying to put on that 55 frame. 60-62 had a wider frame and the rear sill "ears" are spaced about 6 inches wider than the 55 frame that you are using. Quite a few other things different also, but that rear sill mounting will be your biggest problem. Check http://www.mar-k.com/bed_side_interchange_gm.html for more information. Even if you move the brackets inward the 3 inches on each side, it will position your bed about 3/4" higher and a couple inches too far to the rear compared to stock. Mar-Ktech | | |
