Do a search on this site for disc brakes, this problem and it's solutions are discussed in several other threads. Try this for how I converted my 52 1 ton http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/mullen_grigg_1952.htm I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Or you could find spindles with disc brakes you like and adapt them to your original axle, I think someone in texas has done this with Dodge parts? But as far as I know, nothing is just bolt on for the 1 ton disc conversion. Grigg

Look at www.praisedynobrakes.com I got kevlar linings from them and my brakes work really well. If you are not looking to just upgrade the brakes, like lowering the suspension, etc, then that won't work for you. I have had 3000 lbs in scrap iron on my truck and the brakes work fine. I also have a new power brake 7.5 inch booster on a 61 corvette master.

Maybe that should have been the first question. Most the IFS solutions are geared to hot rodders, not working trucks.
My guess is that the best IFS for a real truck would be one from a 1-ton pickup. The Mustang II, Pacer or Camaro clip approaches aren't going to have the load capacity or brake capacity a real truck needs.
If hot rod is what you are building, and you're not going to haul a load, another approach might be to find a front axle from a 1/2-ton, adapt that to the front of your 1-ton and then use a disk brake kit.
