Look very cool but won't run worth a darn. I would like to fit up either a Offy intake to a small (500cfm) Edelbrock 4 barrel carb or retrofit my old Offy intake (two each one barrels). I've read several posts on changing the Rochesters to other kinds/types. What newer/modern types of 1 or 2 barrel carbs with fit up to this my old setup? If I need adapter plates where do I get? I'm not trying to melt tires, just run the roads often in hot weather. Your comments please. Thanks in advance.

I have the dual Holley-Weber 2 bbl and would not do it again. A single four would be a lot less trouble I think. The 2 bbl adaptors are available form Langdons.

He will talk your leg off, but will have a lot of good advice on the 4 barrel choices. He can also tell you about the Holley-Weber rebuilds he sells, they are a progressive 2 bbl, and can be used on your Offy intake with adapters. Here's what they look like http://www.myoldtruck.com/gallery/files/2/3/8/Engineleft.jpg The Rochester one barrel is a poor carb for duals. For some good advice on dual ones, search this forum for posts by carbking. He restores antique carbs.

I plumbed water heat (make sure to JB weld the plugs in the manifold) and I never any driveability problems in 4 season driving. Got the setup off Ebay for less than the price of a new carb.

I don't use water heat. But the electric choke is a wondrous thing, especially in the climate I live in where the temperatures fluctuate wildly. It's nice to be able to get in the truck, twist the key and drive off without having to warm it up (within reason) and drive it while it's cold without a lean backfire. I use a throttle pedal and bracket from a 74 C10 and a throttle cable for a 73 Monte Carlo. Works great.
