My '50 model pickup has a 235 from a '59 passenger car with a hydralic cam.

Is there any difference (between a hydralic or solid cam) in the valvetrain other than the cam & lifters. I'm wondering if i'll run into any problems if I use a solid lifter cam.

Does anyone make a hydralic cam & lifter kit for this motor?

I'm looking at a master rebuild kit from Northern Auto Parts, its about $470, but it includes a solid lifter cam. Does anyone else have a master rebuild kit available?

One other thing, is it a good idea to do the full pressure oiling modification?, thats in the tech tips.

thanks

Hydraulic got a bored passage in the lifter gallery to supply oil to the lifters. Most if not all 59 passenger blocks got that.

No problem with a solid lifter cam - I got a solid in my 59 block without any problem.

solid cam/lifter:

Patrick got the Howards m4f plus a more rumpy version

Langdon sales a "Bulldog" solid cam with an fine asymetrical pattern that`s what I would recomend

they also have the lifters. Make sure you got the right combination of lifters and push rods.

What is a master rebuild kit?
Cam, bearings and lifters or a complete engine rebuild kit?

For engine rebuiild kits check www.Kanter.com

A 59 engine is a full pressure oiler anyways grin
if you mean a full flow oil filter versus the by pass filter. No, you don`t really need that.

If you want better filtration change the standart oil filter to a Frantz filter http://www.wefilterit.com/frantz.htm .
