Trailer them, or drive them, but most of all enjoy them.

That's pretty much what I think too. What's the point in having something you don't like to drive?

I would go complete 6B driveline from a Dodge pickup. While the 4B may be neat, and you can get up to about 170hp from it, it still shakes like a dog passing a peach pit. If you plan on doing a diesel conversion in the future, I would wait for the LDD V8 to come out in the 2010 Dodge 1/2 ton trucks. 4400RPM and up to 425hp from a 5 liter light duty diesel (Automotive)

Scott

Dodge? Did you say Dodge? AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! If you swap components at least keep "Bowtie" drivetrain components in it.

Dang. There are a lot of posts on this topic! So I fiugued I'd give my .02 worth here. This is my opinion, and my personal preference. Nothing more, nothing less. :
I dearly love and cherish seeing trully orriginal cars / trucks at shows. It is nice to LOOK at. But if I am to drive the thing daily, it will be updated! And I think that is where most people are at from what I have read on many other forums, as well as this one. If it is used for a daily driver, it gets updated ( Better motor, trans, brakes, a/c, suspension, ect.).
If it is a "trailer queen", the tend to stay all orriginal.
Now I fully know and understand that there are a few die-hard's out htere that drive the cars/trucks daily in fully orriginal condition. My hat's off to 'ya! But you that do are the exeption more than the rule.
Long Live Ye Old Stovebolt !!!!

My perfect daily driver would be an old style cab and bed on a 2009 platform truck(fuel injected, power steering, quiet and fuel efficient, a/c, very comfortable and easy to drive, etc). Then I could use that nice looking old style truck to trailer the rare stock vehicle that normally sits in the garage because I'm too afraid to get a scratch or ding in it.

My truck will be a work truck, period. Even though I "restore" it to look pretty nice, I'm still probably going to scuff the heck out of the bed by hauling stuff from Home Depot, Lowes, washers, dryers, refrigerators, lumber, mowers, pulling the boat, etc.

The LDD will be priced between the QSB4.5 and QSB6.7 when it hits in 2012 for the industrial market and 2010 for the Automotive market.

Okay, you originality freaks are way over the top as far as the average truck or car guy is concerned. It is impossible to use and enjoy your truck as it was "originally" intended if you are so worried about wearing out the factory set of points inside the distributor that nobody will ever see. That's just plain nuts.
But I must confess, I share your illness.
Original is ORIGINAL. As soon as ANY part has been changed, altered, improved, replaced, etc., then it's not original (at least as far as that part goes). That being said, I think it would take quite a few parts being replaced before I would throw the whole truck out with the non-original bathwater.
Perhaps the best way to describe overall true originality is by percentage. It's doubtful that even a single truck of the vintage that this website appreciates exists as 100% original.
Given my tweaked perspective on what is original, you can imagine my heartbreak this summer, when I had to replace a clogged fuel pump and one of the factory heater hoses on my otherwise highly original 8800 mile '66 C-10. As far as I know, these parts along with just a couple from the first owner are all that has been done to the entire truck from new. ...(blub, sniff) So sad.
