I sent my fuel gauge out to be repaired and when we installed it it says on full. please help | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | A ground is not connected somewhere. Check all of the connections and wires from the gauge back to the tank and sending unit ground. If all those check out, then check the sending unit in the tank. It could be bad. That was the reason that mine wouldn't work. | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 65 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 65 | Is the sending unit difficult to install? | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | Nope, you just undo the screws that hold it in and pull it out of the tank. On mine the metal band that goes to the little box that holds the float arm had broke. I'm assuming that our two trucks are relatively the same on this part but I don't know. I'm only 13 and learned this by doing it. After I installed one that someone gave me it worked fine and seems to register correctly. | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 | you can pre-test it outside the tank. hook all 2 wires and work the arm up or down. ground wire are always important ... anywhere
